Parking your car and taking the bus

What a wealth of Information. Sounds like single female in old convertible not be ideal for Mexican roads.. so if i were to park my car at say Laredo, would there be some secure and not prohbitively expensive lot I could secure her in? and then grab a bus over :-)

Dont know any particular safe car storage but it has been my experience to look at rental car locations (search Laredo auto rental) and they usually have space they rent for security. They usually charge 4-6 dollars per day. Hope this helps.

I did in McAllen

Can't say about Laredo but I parked my car at a lot right by the bridge in McAllen. The lot was open with a guard 24 hours a day. They let me park directly across from the guard house so I felt quite secure leaving it there. The cost was $3.00 a day.
My daughter and I walked across the bridge, picked up a tourist visa and then took a cab to the bus station. From there, you can go just about anywhere. We went to Monterrey.
------
What a wealth of Information. I now live in Mexico ... but before living here ... I used to park my car at the Hamilton Hotel in downtown Laredo ($5/day). It is one block aways from the bus station and they accept long-term parkings (you have to leave the keys with them). The lot does not open until 8am and closed around 10pm for the night ... so plan accordingly. You might call them to see of they still do this. The last time that I did it they were renovating the hotel and I do not know if there policies have changed.
