Mexican check points

I am leaving March 1 for Guadalajara. I understand there are less checkpoints after crossing the Border at Nogalas. Does anyone with recent travel experience know if this is true or not? It would help in figuring out travel time. I know that checkpoints can take awhile. Thanks in advance.

Except for the customs check station just outside of every border town, you may not hit any on your way south to GDL. I say "may" not because the Army has roving check points looking for drugs, so you never know where they may pop up. But these checks are almost always for north-bound traffic. In fact, I can recall having seen only one south-bound check station in all my travels in northern Mexico. I have been choosen for an inspection only once, and that took only about 10 minutes. I don't think the possibility of a check point should alter your time planning.

On highway 15 we encountered a two or three checkpoints but the time envolved was nothing. Two as I recall were in Sinaloa and were agricultural in nature.

I've driven from Nogales to Zihuatanejo twice in the past three years.
I've never been more than five minutes in a checkpoint, typically less than two minutes.
