To get to Patzcuaro to which airport should I fly? I'll need to rent a car, I suppose. Are there any hostels?

Hello,

There is no hostel listed for Patzcuaro. There is one hostel listed for Morelia at http://www.hostels.com/en/availability.php/HostelNumber.2752

There are many good buses from Morelia to Patzcuaro. Or a taxi would not cost too much. Depending on what you want to do in Patzcuaro you might not need to rent a car.

There's also an airport at Uruapan, but I don't know much about it as I have never used it. I think it may be for domestic flights, although I have heard that you can fly to Tijuana from Uruapan.
You could rent a car, take a bus or a cab from Morelia to Pátzcuaro. There are some inexpensive but decent hotels in Pátzcuaro, at low prices.

In January we purchased bus tickets Patzcuaro to Morelia, engaged a taxi to take us to the bus station at the south edge of Patzcuaro. When we mentioned we were heading to Morelia, the taxi driver offered to take us there himself for $25 USD.

The going rate is $200 from Pátzcuaro to Morelia. Maybe another 50 to the Morelia Camionera Central.

We had already purchased our bus tickets, and declined the taxi driver's offer. I thought to myself then that the price of fuel, etc. made it not worthwhile for him.

Depending upon the time of day, it can be very inexpensive to catch a cab from Morelia to Patzcuaro. There are cab drivers from Patzcuaro who just want to go home.
