I too, am now getting an overlay ad from when I click on my bookmark for mexconnected - just started this afternoon - it completely covers the home page, making you think you've made an error. Shame to spoil such a great site.

This is something we do not understand as yet!

There are NO applications, Pop-ups, or other coding within Mexico Connect that can cause this. It appears to be an outside grab for the URL.

We are working desperately to get to the bottom of this!

I'm not getting any popups. During the last week have have connected to various ISPs in both Central and North America, and have never had a popup as a result of connecting to Mexconnect. And I check this site more than once per day

Re: [johanson] Popups

Nor have I experienced any popups from Mexconnect, and I access it from different machines. I submit that the presence of popups is a function of some program running in the background of others' machines.

Wendy I see absolutely nothing to the right of the address line you posted.

On another matter The sun finally came out in this part of the world, the Lower Mainland. It must be 28 out. I'm sipping on a glass of champagne, sitting on the shore listening to my favorite station CIOC 98.5 Victoria and (Oops they just said 25 in Victoria). It reminds me of what it will be like when I return to Ajijic in early September.

I'm actually in a hammock connected to the internet via a wireless card

Hi Don: I went through your home town Friday on my way back from school in Antigua, Guatemala. It's supposed to get in the mid 90s in SEA Tuesday. Whats that, 20 degrees above normal? I'm North of there and we are seeing slightly cooler weather

Its weird. I have absolutely no popups or popdowns even with my popup stopper software disabled, when I use MexConnect.

I guess I should count myself lucky. I think I will phone up my ISP and ask if they are using any popup filters.

      Hi Pete:

I am in California now. Will be in Seattle next week for a month. Hope the good weather holds.

When I access, I see no popups, etc, but when I clicked on the first address given by Wendy, I saw the ads. The only time I see the ads is by clicking on the address she gave us. In Mexico I use Prodigy and here in California I am using AOL. Can't figure this one out.

I get an AOL 8.0 ad. But thank god it's not flashing!

      Three things.

      1. The pop-ups should not be happening as a result of Mexico Connect. I have contacted the 24/7 folk and - once again - reitierated that NO pop-ups or hi-action banners are to be placed on MXC.

      2. As others have identified, ther are other ways in which pop-ups can be made to happen on your machine.

      3. Wendy has pointed out that there are still some 'left-over' pages in the subscription site that have the 24/7 banner code. Thanks Wen. I didn't realize they were still there.
Hopefully I have now caught them all and they will be replaced with the August 1 upload.

David this is arbon, for Wendy....It looked to me that as you said "It appears to be an outside grab for the URL" & then another grab of that "grabing"URL,.....because I can't find by (Right click) any properties for the zendmedia popup.....(it is not really there) if that makes sense?

Bye the way there are NO other popups happening on Wendys system.
