Hi, I am trying the "quote" button to see how it works out. Maybe I should have sent you a "private message". Simply wanted you to know I read your response and I think you expressed some of my objection to the new format very well indeed. Will anyone read your response? Will anyone see it? Does anyone care? Dunno!! But I hope so!

People ranting and raving is more entertaining to read than orderly questions about which hotels accept pets. There should be an anything goes forum. Thats what keeps people coming back. People reloading the pages for the third time in a day just to see whats been posted in that heated argument. People who come to ask about hotels probably won't ever be back again.

Consider 10 people who stumble across the forums from google, post once or twice, then never come back again... Or 5 people who are completely hooked, come pretty much daily, see the same advertising over and over again, and who will think about MexConnect first whenever the topic of Mexico on the Internet comes up?

Oops! sorry I didn't know the "quote" doesn't function correctly at the moment.

I had to go back and edit my "reply w/quote" because the 1st time the reply didn't show up.

Testing "quote" function. .........Seems to be working now.

Try leaving an extra return between the end of the quote ( /reply) and the first line of your response.
Let's see if that helps!

The problem seems to be specific to some folk and not others. The software developers will have that fixed in their next upgrade . . .

I hate to write this - - But, it depends!

For some - either/or above the reply (but not inside) or below

For some - it doesn't matter what you do, it just won't work - and I don't know why yet!

For others - it only works if you leave an extra line between the end of the reply code and the beginning of your text.

In this example, I did not hit quote, but rather copied the line I wanted from your post, then in the text box, I first clicked on the quote button, pasted your text that I had copied, and then hit the quote button again to close the reply tag.
Let's see if it worked . . .

Yup it did.

Those who are struggling, see if this technique works for you.
However - always remember to put that close quote tag in at the end of the quoted text and BEFORE your text.

Just trying this out to see if it solves the problem I was having.

Before, it would work for the first quote but not for any after that. If this works then I think I know what happened in my case.

I was using the Advanced Editor which doesn't show you the tags. I've switched to the basic editor and now I can see the tags and perhaps see if I've deleted one or not. I might have deleted a tag while editing my post and not seen that it had disappeared.

Yup it did.

I'm thinking that's what happened.
