Drmike, if you live in or near Toluca, you must go to the tiaguis of Santiago Tiaguistenco, within 30 miles, southwest of Toluca. I first read about this Tuesday only market in a Diana Kennedy book. It was well worth the time, for a look and taste of traditional (and otherwise) Mexican fare. Get there early. It's a feast for the senses, and be brave, and try that tamal de sesos that I passed up, in favor of regular, but delicious tamales and barbacoa de borrego. If wild mushrooms interest you, this is a great place to find them, during the rainy season, as well as fish (and possibly frogs), daubed with red chile paste and roasted whole in corn husks. Sad to say, I didn't have a camera with me. :-( Saludos, Anonimo
