Rural Puebla's bad experiences with US cops are far far too common.

Between 1989 and 2010, U.S. 'law enforcement' seized an estimated $12.6 billion in asset forfeiture cases, boldly increasing their seizures of our $$ by a 19.4% annual average, and the problem has only gotten worse over time.

In 2010 alone, the value of assets seized grew by +52.8% from 2009 and was six times greater than the total for 1989.

By 2014, that number had ballooned to roughly $4.5 billion for the year, making 2014's seizures a full 35% of the entire number of assets collected from 1989 to 2010.

According to FBI data, police asset seizures exceeded the total amount of goods stolen by criminals in 2014 burglary offenses.

By 2014 - 2015m the police were taking more assets than the criminals.

For Texas alone, roadside police shake-downs are netting the local cops $$ millions seized without charges & without trials from ordinary Americans from other states, who dare drive through rural Texas areas.

The Washington Post detailed the police abuses here:

US local police seized "hundreds of millions of dollars in cash from motorists and others not charged with crimes, a Washington Post investigation found. Thousands of people have been forced to fight legal battles that can last more than a year to get their money back."

The police even carry waivers in their cars, offering to return half the innocent driver's seized cash ... with no charges filed ... if the driver agrees to not file charges nor sue the police...

... so, some people justifiably decide to not add to their risks when traveling US highways.
