I can only speak aboutTamaulipas, but the military presence is just part of the reality that comes with living here. We frequently hear stories of abuse, excessive force and even "extrajudicial executions," but I can't imagine what it would be like to live here without the military. And aside from the bad guys I suspect everyone wants them here.

Since local and regional law enforcement in the north has been at best inefficient and at worst inherently corrupt, what are the options? Better training and more defined engagement protocols are needed, but considering the alternatives, I'll opt for the soldiers and marines.
