I would strongly recommend you check it out before getting excited. We go there ( Chiapas beaches)when we want to get away and I can tell you that these beaches and" wonderful" locals are not for many people including for many Mexicans. Fun to visit for a short vacation but living there is another story. You can get cheap places down there that is for sure. Cheap is not everything-
