Alex, deep inside I believe most of us know and can say, “since when has the human condition ever been any better.” Your sightings with a backdrop of horrendous atrocities human kind is capable of can be seen as a drop in the bucket and should “really” come as no surprise. To try to pretend otherwise is surely a masquerade.
What happens in any month of any year in Mexico pales in a human global spectrum we are so soon to forget, conveniently? It’s our way of pretending “shock” that such unspeakable things occur. It’s a collective defense mechanism, which rises and falls pending needs at any particular time, as we know it.
My experience of Mexico for the most part has been good even though I was held at gunpoint, beaten and hospitalized in an attempted robbery, in of all places Mexico City about 40 years ago. Quite frankly though, that which came with my youth then somewhat solicited this action and I like to believe I did learn something from it as so many of us do from other things in life.
Most ol’timers have a few miles on them and candidly life just goes on. I will admit Mexico is more of a frontier type existence void of allot of the glitz and more found NoB, but in an of itself, it also carries some kind of charm and sort of a peacefulness pending which town you physically live in, as well as where your at between the ears, especially on a nice day.
In a thinking mind, concerns can take us here there and everywhere but believe it or not some also believe that right “now” we have always been in the same place we started. Dos Centavos.
