For the past 25 years, Roy B. Dudley has owned and operated Studio ROY, doing professional photography and videography, in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. He keeps very busy with his business, as well as being president of the local Rotary Club and a myriad of other projects. His logo, a jalapeno pepper symbolizes his firey spirit and spicey outlook on life.
Born in 1950 in Manhattan (Kansas), he spent his early childhood in Moscow Kansas) and jokes that he lived for years in Manhattan and Moscow without every leaving Kansas. He lived in colorful Boulder (Colorado) until 1972, when he came to Xalapa to finish his BA in Spanish at the Universidad Veracruzana through the University of Colorado extension program.
Having a Kansas farming background, Roy loves agriculture and the outdoors; his favorite sports being mountain biking and snow skiing. Xalapa has been his permanent home for the last 24 years. Three of those years (1974-1977), he spent hay farming in the Valley of the Swans area of Creston, B.C. Canada, spending winters in Mexico. His wife, Lourdes, and two children, Kirsten and Roy Frank, are also "jalapenos" in every sense of the word.
Beginning in October, 1999, Roy Dudley will conduct one week "orientation seminars" for people taking extended vacations or planning to retire in the Xalapa area. Attendance is limited. For information:
