Maximino Javier (b. 1950)
A veteran of the "Oaxacan School" that is rapidly receiving worldwide recognition, Javier has developed his own personal and unmistakable iconography. Movement is a principle and continuous force that shapes Javier's work. Movement in the form of airplanes, trains, busses, bicycles, evolution, anthromorphism, abduction and power. Javier simultaneously adheres to and breaks ferociously with both the Oaxacan school and the formal doctrines of official Mexican visual representation.
