More Info:More about The Bungalows and SuitesLocal Attractions Prices and Reservations How to Find Us (with printable map) At the western end of beautiful lake Chapala, Jocotepec is the market center for many smaller towns and villages around the lake. People come from far and wide to purchase fresh produce in Jocotepec's daily market. All kinds of fruit and vegetables are sold, including many (such as guavas) that are rarely found north of the border. The village is small enough to walk everywhere but large enough to have lots of small stores, selling everything from everyday supplies (bakeries, mini supermarkets, pharmacies, newsagents and a bank) to specialist hardware and agricultural supplies. Jocotepec has excellent medical and dental services with several bilingual doctors and fully equipped private clinics in the unlikely event of any accident or emergency. Founded in 1529 on the flat land close to the lake, Jocotepec has since spread up onto the lower slopes of the high mountains that overlook the gazebo in the town plaza. The Posada del Pescador is on the same level as the center of town, perfect for those who prefer walking to driving while enjoying a short break from city life. The hotel has secure, off-street parking for visitors who arrive by car. It is also located on the main bus route between Jocotepec and Chapala. The regular bus service from the city of Guadalajara to San Juan Cosalá drops visitors off right at the entrance to the Posada del Pescador. Visitors' first impressions are of luxuriant vegetation and immaculately maintained pools and grounds, shared by the individual self-contained one-bedroom and two-bedroom bungalows. All units come fully equipped with everything needed to enjoy a carefree vacation; some even include a private jacuzzi! Every unit has a fully equipped kitchen, so that those who like to cook have the chance to enjoy gourmet meals using the fresh and varied local produce. The hotel has its own convenience store with a range of perishable foods, everyday items and household supplies. For those who prefer to eat out, there are several restaurants in town, even including one specializing in sushi. Slightly further afield, fifteen minutes east, in the village of Ajijic, there are more than 30 mainstream restaurants, though food prices there tend to be somewhat higher than in Jocotepec.
